Launch Party for Judgeship Candidate Soheila Azizi
Recently, I spoke at a Launch Party for my judgeship candidate campaign for San Bernardino Superior Court Judge. What I want to say first of all is thank you, to all who have not only given support but also offered a helping hand when it has been most needed for the sake of the campaign and our community. Constant influx of supportive, helpful hands is exactly what a community needs to stay strong and show that all dreams are within reach.
At the launch party, we discussed many issues, but focusing mainly on the rehabilitative process involved with the criminal justice system. Especially when focusing on juvenile cases, it is important to consider rehabilitative measures to send young adults and their seniors out into society once again and be prepared for the world that awaits. When we fail to adhere to rehabilitative measures, far too many citizens struggle to get back on their feet, obtain the jobs and homes that they strive for, and fall back into the system in a never-ending and agonizing circle. Did you know that, by supporting rehabilitative practices and putting these important lives in the hands of a judge who cares could lower prison rates and aid an entire community?
This is why I handle these most important cases – to show others that they are more than a face. They are a human being with an important and necessary life path in front of them with visions to be sought and a future to be held. When I consider the needs of an entire community, I consider the fact that communities come together to help the people that thrive within. I am part of the San Bernardino community and wish to obtain judgeship for thousands and thousands of people who mean so much to me and have offered their support when I needed it most.
Above all, I know that many things do not come easily. You can take my background as an example; my family and I fled to Europe and then to the United States after years of religious persecution under the Iranian government. Many people struggle in society and this is why it is vital to have listening ears. I will stand up and be the advocate that San Bernardino needs for many issues, including families who have fallen on hard times and juveniles who have taken a wrong path and wish to get the help they need to conquer what has been done. We see trends in today’s day and age where judges choose to sentence immediately and send people right off to prison without taking other factors into consideration. With a judge who cares about her people, I will assure that I can take each unique situation into consideration and produce results that people want to see.
I will be the community activist that helps people come together. However, I will need your help in these matters. This is what I spoke about at the San Bernardino Launch Party and my speech was heard by many figures in the community who mean more to me than words can explain. Thank you all so much for being a part of my life and my journey, as I hope to be in your life.
